Vision Statement
Dr. David Wood is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia. He is the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Vancouver General Hospital. He works as a structural and interventional cardiologist at both St. Paul’s and Vancouver General Hospital and is a co-founding member of the Centre for Heart Valve Innovation in Vancouver. He obtained subspecialty training at Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute of New York. Dr. Wood is the Vice President of the Canadian Association of Interventional Cardiology and the course director for both the annual I2C Structural Meeting and the International Emerging Cardiovascular Leaders Conference.

Research Interests
His primary research interests include transcatheter management of structural and valvular heart disease, advanced cardiac imaging, new device development, and novel strategies for treating acute coronary syndromes.
Research Summary
Dr. Wood has participated in over 40 “live cases” for all of the major international cardiovascular meetings and over 20 “first in human” cases with his partner John Webb. Dr. Wood has co-authored over 150 publications in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Wood is co-principal investigator for the CIHR funded COMPLETE trial (n=4042,150 sites, 30 countries) and principal investigator for the 3M TAVR study (n=413,13 sites), SAFE TAVR study(n=315,15 sites), and MANTA study (n=263,20 sites).
